Aloha ALL,
So I been carrying my Boker Plus HYPER Black CE since I got it a few weeks ago. Been using it on everything I normally would and looking for every chance to use it on things I normally "wouldn't". (Like cutting through tightly wrapped tin foil, thick plastics which require sawing, an occasional slash...okay... slashES on a Gardenia or Guava branch,etc...) I gotta admit, I figured this Ti-Coat would've shown some kind of wear by now, especially on the backside of the blade, right behind the serrations. This is normally where the coat on the black bladed SFV's ( Subcom Folder Variants) tend to show the most wear after using the HYPER CE like how I have been. Amazingly, there is NO wear at all...I can't even find any scratches on the blade! There are two "pin hole" sized marks on the lockside...one on the clip, and one on the frame, but ya really gotta look to find them! Good stuff this Ti-Coat!
Edge retention has been great also. However, I must admit that I frequently touch up my knives on a Spyderco white stone whether they need it or not, so this second sentence might negate my first. LOL! This 440C has held up well, and takes an edge easily based on past experience with this steel.
Drawing the HYPER from RFP or IWB is enhanced by the cutouts on the G10, steel lined scale. It rides nice and easy like the SFV's and the "TV's" (Trance Variants), and I am beginning to really like this deep pocket clip. I also did some full speed thrusts and slashes with this bugger and retention is fine. I found the Filipino, Foil, Gorilla grip all work well, and when I hold it in the Ice Pick or Scalpel grips, my hands are fortunately small enough to have my ring finger lie perfectly in the clip indent! If I hold it in the Edge Up grip, my middle finger falls perfectly into the clip indent as well! *Hee-Hee*!!!
Well, here are some pics of the HYPER CE minus a "bath". That black crud on the edge is not rust, it's particles from some thick foam I was push cutting through and they probably got stuck to some tape from a box I opened and "shredded" yesterday! ;-) Shown also are the SFB, and my MPT PE in a Mercharness rig. Cripes, my MPT PE needs some TLC!
Next up to carry is the M-TYPE Black CE! Sitrep to follow.
God bless, mahalo MUCH, and Happy Holidays everyone!
