All three of these blades were welded dry, using stainless steel canisters. Canister welding is more work but, I find, the results are more dependable.
The largest blade was forged from a billet of 1 1 / 4 inch cable with a mix of 1084 and 4600E to fill the voids in the canister.
** The smaller fighter with the clip point is from a feather pattern billet of 90 layers.
*** The small dagger ground blade, which is 3 1 / 2 inches blade pattern without the tang is also a feather.
**** In the top picture the blades have been hardened and tempered and are ready for the wrought iron guards.
***** The bottom picture shows the blades right after they were hardened.
