Wo ist genau der Unterschied zu Wootz und "custom melt crucible steel", und was sind die Vor- und Nachteile der Stähle in einer Gegenüberstellung?

So Don. What's your take on Woots? Is this something you may be working with in the future?

I am more interested in what Ric Furrer has been doing with custom melt crucible steel.
He demonstrated the process at the ABS Fall hammerin in Arkansas. Basically you put the raw materials including alloys into a crucible and heat it in the gas forge. What you end up with is designer steel. Ric will be doing the demo again at Batson's Symposium here in Alabama this April and I will be taking notes.

Danke,
Alan
