Hello,

I thought you German knife fans might like to see a titanium alloy machete. This is forged out of a Russian titanium alloy called BT23, that is used for many things including ballistic armor plates. The chemical composition of this complex alloy is: 5Al 2Mo 4.5V 1Cr 0.7Fe

This blade is 1/8" in thickness by the handle, and tapers toward the tip like a sword. The sculpted grind is a thin convex. Blade is 18" long, with a 6" handle for 24" overall, and a weight of 11 ounces.

The tough blade was forged close to shape, heat-treated by eye to HRc 60+ and can be flexed beyond 90 degrees and return true. This one has a straight handle, others had slightly curved or hour-glass handles.

A useful, easy tool for cutting brush and undergrowth.

Thanks for looking! :]

Interesting Idea!
How does the edge hold up in use?
Do you resharpen it with a steel or by grinding?
