Alohallo ALL,

Just wondering...Fixed Blades aside...

Which type would you suggest I lean towards in regards to future designs in a folder?

Two handed opening LOCKING?

OR

One hand opening SLIP JOINT?

Just curious...and mahalo for your support and time everyone!
God bless,
Chad:ahaa:

Hello Chad,

i would prefer two hand opening with a lock instead of a slippy with one hand opening.
This because ʹm afraid of getting injured when i use the knife for "harder" jobs than opening a letter or something else.
In my opinion, no lock is a no go....

best regards
Chris

Well that's the question. If you have a look over to the other thread this topic is lively debated.

No solution reached.

My take on the matter is slipjoint for smaller gent's folders and locking on bigger workhorses.

Alohalloha Chad :)

I´d vote for a locking Folder, 3.5" to 4" blade, two handed opening and a Pocket Clip that allows deep carrying in the pocket (like the BM Pika I or ER BF2). And another wish: the clip should have a very endurable black coating, maybe like a gun-barrel oxydizing / burnishing.

Edit: This is often heard since the new knife law appeard: There are nearly no legal pocket knifes with a pocket clip placed on the market.

Hi Chad!
I´m with Ookami, to each his own.
A Slippy AND a locking one.

So I have an excuse to buy two knives, and can choose depending on the matter at hand.

Hello,

i would prefer a two handed opening locking too. According to the slogan "safety first"! :super:

Hello Chad.

Though i use slipjoints sometimes, i prefer two handed opening with a solid lock.
And don't forget the pocket clip ;)

Hi Chad,
since your designs tend to have short, wide blades, i think you can "get away" with a slipjoint.

The UKPenkife by Spyderco works quite well despite lacking a lock.

For larger blades i really like a lock. I´m kind of attached to my fingers ;) .

I carry two handed folders regularly for EDC and REALLY miss the convenience one hand folders provide. So i´m mostly carrying fixed blades now.

I for one would welcome a small EDCable knive without a lock but including a clip and one handed opening.

Maybe something like the Keycom or the Direct.

The Keycom might work as it is because the blade kinda sits lower than the finger when opened and so keeps the blade open.

With the Direct, i see the danger of squeezing the finger between the flipper/guard and the "subhilt"...

Alohallo ALL,

Interesting...thanks for your feedback.

WELL, I am about to build some models of two slippys, maybe three. I know and appreciate everyone wanting a two handed locking folder, and those will never stop coming from me. However...

For the longest time, I been trying to get a slippy made for the UK...now that Germany is allowing only one hand NON-locking folders, I figure I would finally create them for my fellows in Europe who have these absurd laws.

I am pretty certain, you will enjoy these slip joints...like most of my designs, they are not..."normal".:steirer: :super::steirer:

God bless and mahalo MUCH,
Chad:ahaa:
