U.S. Special Forces chose this knife, the SOG SEAL Revolver for their cold weather survival gear, or PEPSE, (Personal Environmental Protective Survival Equipment).

Wirth the number of "official knives" these special forces soldiers have to carry one wonders how they can walk at all.

My understanding is that they chose the SEAL Revolver just for cold weather carry. This should make it easier for them, and the SEAL Revolver just weighs about 8 ounces with kydex sheath.

Below is the quote from the SOG product 2005 catalog,

"The SOG black TINI SEAL Revolver was recently chosen to be a part of the Personal Environmental Protective Survival Equipment (PEPSE) system for Special Operations Forces deployed in cold weather conditions"

I don't know for sure, but they might be issued a different tool/knife for different weather conditions and geographical locations.

There is a Museum of NAVY S.E.A.L in Fort Benning. All Knives they ever had used are shown there. There is no Knife looking like that Mayby some Soldiers take one of them for privat. By the way: U.S. Navy S.E.A.L. has a Manpower of "5000" Soldiers. Some of them are UDT Specialist, the most of them not. It's not like in film. Real good Specialist are: Shayetet 13, Hubert, SBT and Kampfschwimmer Bundesmarine. The most popular and used Knife is the Glock knife!

Oha...not S.E.A.L. you write about U.S. SF Troops my mistake! I have no information about them!

Glock is a good knife I think.
