This arrived a couple days ago and despite being about 50 years old or so is in like new condition. I have seen, and owned some American, and Italian knives marked with the model numbers in a special ink, but this is the first German knife. It has always been thought that they were salesman sample knives, carried by the company knife salesman for show to potential customers. It has also been suggested to me by a very knowledgeable German knife expert that it could also be a piece from the Herder factory collection. Whatever the case, I love the knife and matching pouch which none of my automatic knife collector friends, or myself has ever seen before.
