A standard AG Russell Sting I and a standard Sting II with wooden grip panels, both originals from 1977 and complete with sheaths in their original boxes.
Both knives were bought by a Dutch collector in the manufacturing year, and both were never used or even sheathed and spent over 30 years in a closet.
They are as pristine as they were on the day they were made.

The Sting daggers were made by Anton Wingen Jr. in Solingen, Germany under their Othello brand, and were hot drop-forged from a single piece of 440C stainless steel.
The ones in the pictures were meant for the European market only, as they carry both the AG Russell name & the Othello head, while the US versions were marked with the AG Russell name only.

Thank you for sharing your information on these "standard" A.G. Russell Sting knives made and marketed in Europe by Anton Wingen Jr. with this cutler's OTHELLO brand.
Some series have been completed with special handle material in the U.S. by A.G. Russell, additional to the oval "A.G.RUSSELL" mark in the center of the blade they have been marked
„SPRINGDALE ARK“ on the recasso.
A.G. Russell offered various handle options aside to the most common Palisander Wood pattern:
burgundy dark red linnen MICARTA, black linnen MICARTA, white „Ivory“-MICARTA, and the small edition series with genuine ivory, stag horn or buffalo horn series.
Additional limited series were introduced as "skeletto" pattern die forged out of stainless steel or even out of 'Sachse' Damascus steel.
If of interest I can post illustrations.

In my files I just tracked that I already posted in another Messrforum's thread some history on the Anton Wingen - RUSSELL - STING knife:
Infos über Anton Wingen jun.? (https://messerforum.net/threads/infos-ueber-anton-wingen-jun.28492/page-2)

This is the Damascus steel SKELETTO pattern, the steel came from the SACHSE-Forge, the first master craftsman, who experienced in Damascus steel post WWII:
