Hello,
Hopefully this will help to put to rest the rumors and questions surrounding the 780.
After continuing to encounter issues with our original concept on how we had planned to manufacture the 780, and applying significant efforts to resolve the sub-par quality standards, the decision has been made to shelve the project at this time.
Those of you familiar with Benchmade over the years already know that this type of occurrence has never happened in our history. Please understand that we acknowledge your disappointment over the past year in anticipation of the 780 product shipment. We are all equally disappointed as well.
On the positive side going forward though, it’s your undying enthusiasm, which ultimately drives us even harder to know and maintain the level of higher standards you have come to expect from Benchmade. That being said, we sincerely apologize for the confusion and disappointment over the 780, and know too that we would much rather have to endure some embarrassment now, rather than face your disappointment later if we were to go ahead and ship an inferior quality product.
Before shelving the 780 project there were approximately 140 knives made and placed into inventory. We felt the only fair way to ship these was to place them against the very first individual dealer orders placed at the onset. These limited pieces will be shipped out to those 140 dealers before the holidays and that will bring this 780 project to a close.
Thank you in advance for your understanding, and hopefully once you get wind of all that is new coming for this year from Benchmade, you will find something to get the excitement started once again!
Thank You.
Benchmade.
