German penknive

Next is the size of the opening hole?

I did see some really nice silver carbon fiber.

12 mm opening hole is enough.
Depending on the spring´s strength and the lock´s shape even a well positioned 10 mm hole can work pretty nice as the Kiwi shows.

Silver carbon fiber? :super:

12mm why not?

Clip = Tip down, only one or two positiones

now that looks quite good, except for the "dent" on the back of the handle. I especially like the hilt.

I would also suggest brown paper micarta, because it just looks better then plain old black canvas micarta

I vote for 12 mm too. I messured my UK Penknife, which is my current reference for a perfect EDC.

I like the latest design from Goldfinger. But what is the coil at the back intended for?

Silver G10 would perfectly suit to my imagination of a german penknife.

I havn´t been here for a few weeks and
I am sorry to see this thread down. Where has the enthusiasm gone ?

This is my last suggestion

Hi Myamoto,

We've only got some sizes down. Haven't begun to "pen" any ideas yet.

There have been some suggestions on design, but many are not suited for manufacture (no room for a lock, etc)

85mm (or under to permit auto version?)
12mm opening hole
full flat blade grind
Silver G-10 handle material or Titanium

Next questions would be lock choice?

Is the tendency for a wider or thinner design?

Do we want to incorporate a finger choil?

Steel choice?

I'm up for it! Are you planning Spyderco Autos? I would definitely buy one, whether it's a german pen knife or not.

Sal schrieb:

I would prefer a liner lock - because of its better one-hand-handling.

Sal schrieb:

For me thinner knives work better for EDC - G10 handles with only one locking liner would be fine.

Sal schrieb:

I have no use for it, although I like at the UK Pen Knife.

I suggest S30V.

Thanks for keeping this thread going!

Hi Sal,
I would like to hear what you suggest as a lock for a German penknive. Maybe 2 or 3 suggestions and the reasons why.
I never thought the German penknive to be an auto, but it is a nice idea...
Maybe we should start a poll first, if auto or not, because the lock depends on this question.
