Here are some of the nex pheonix in carbon steel, ,
jenni has now a carton of these.

the handles are of textolite, the blades are u8a steel , this is a carbon tool steel.
they are zone tempered, the blade being 57-59 rockwell the back of the blade being 50 rockwell and the grip being 45 rockwell, the pommel spike is left harder, around 55-59 ,
(it is hard to control the hardness of such a small area)
the blade is now 7mm thick.
the grips are bolted on and can be reomved, the screws and nuts for this are brass and stainless steel. under the grip the tang has litening holes cut into it,

the sheath is heavy black leather, 4-5mm thick,
it is hand stitched with a double row of heavy nylon thread,
there is 4 large metal loops for leg straps and one smaller leather loop as at the end of the sheath for a tie down cord,

the belt loop is riveted on with 4 rivets for a good deal of security,

Fine to hear from You again - and amazing to see Your knives become better and better. This one could feel good in company with my other ones, except for the handle's colour .

It makes me very curious for the new DV. If that also gains as much as the Phoenix, it will be hard to withstand....

Fine to hear from You again - and amazing to see Your knives become better and better. This one could feel good in company with my other ones, except for the handle's colour .

It makes me very curious for the new DV. If that also gains as much as the Phoenix, it will be hard to withstand....

hello Micha,
yes they improve .. is hard work you know.. :S... everything can always be improved.
hmm handle is darker than in the foto, but it was the sun,
also the textolite is is not standard in coloring like micarta , it is for indurtrial uses so color isnt important, some is brown , some yellow some orange,,,
i would have prefered the brown micarta,

anyway the handle bolts off, and if one realy dosnt like it it can be reomved and changed with another,


this knife is rather "weapon like" id say it couldnt make a good kitchen knife,


ah sorry micha, your d.v. it is delayed ... jenni recived not the correct d.v's but instead a lot in stainless steel.... and as i was not present at the factory this occured with ease sitll the stainless ones she has are the best quality i have ever seen, most have walnut burl grips.. nicly done knoves..
but if they sute you not , then we must wait for the carbon d.v's when they may come..

indeed, you will get a big picture tomorrow..
it is textolite,,, basicaly textolite is micarta but micarta is the amrerican name, and is a commercial material for knif ehandles and such colored, in industrial use then the term textolite is used.

Thats really a nice one. From my point of view especially the contrast of the brown handle to the black blade has "the look" that makes it a wannehave for me. I hope the knifebox that Jenni has is still not empty.
Nice for the collection and bad for the budget.

ok, here is the handle, the pictures are alittle crude, but you can see it clearly
handle is fitted to each knife before the blackening is done so the fit is perfect.

Hallo zusammen,

hier erst einmal ein paar Infos in deutsch, sorry es ging leider nicht früher .

Das neue Phoenix sieht einfach spitzenmäßig aus, am Montag bekomme ich vernünftige Fotos von allen neuen Messern und werde Sie dann wohl Dienstag oder Mittwoch hier einstellen.

Das neue Phoenix I hat eine Gesamtlänge von: 340 mm, Klingenlänge: 210 mm, Klingenstärke: 7 mm, Klingenstahl:russischer U8a Kohlenstoffstahl, Schliff: Hohlschliff, Griffmaterial: Texolite, Scheide: handgenähte Lederscheide, das Gewicht beträgt ungefähr 380 gr.

Hier die Zusammensetzung des U8a:
C 0.76-0.83
Si 0.17-0.33
Mn 0.17-0.28
Ni 0.2
P 0,025
Cr 0,2
Cu 0.2

Die Klinge des Phoenix hat an der Schneide einen Härtegrad von 57- 59, auf dem Klingenrücken eine Härte von ca.50 Rockwell, im Griff von 45 Rockwell und der Glasbrecher wiederum hat eine Rockwellhärte von ca 55- 59 Rockwell.

Die Texolite Griffschalen sind verschraubt und können ohne weiteres ausgewechselt werden.( Da ich ziemlich neugierig bin, werde ich jetzt ausjulius bitten, mir die Griffschalen abzuschrauben, damit Ihr und natürlich ich, auch das Skelett sehen ).

Die Lederscheide ist zweireihig handgenäht und zusätzlich mit 2 Nieten versehen um ein Auftrennen der Naht beim Einführen des Messers zu verhindern.Der Hänger der Scheide ist mit 4 Nieten befestigt. Zusätzlich ermöglichen die 4 Ösen an der Scheide verschiedene Tragweisen.

Es gibt auch ein echt cooles neues KO, ich versuche so schnell wie möglich alle Bilder zu zeigen .

Jetzt habe ich doch noch etwas ganz wichtiges vergessen , der Preis des Phoenix-I Texolite ist 215,00 Euro.

here is the knfie with the handle removed, you can see in one picture the hardness ses for the handle.
the holes are to reduce weight of the knife.
they are not to large as to make the handle to weak.

it is easy to remove, although one should use a special screwdriver they can be removed with a normal one, just cearfully.


the knife still feels decent in the hand with the handle removes, i think becuase of the thick blade,,
if one was inclined they could also remove the handle scales and put a "para cord" handle on it,,, although im no lover of paracord :teuflisch
