The new version of the Sage 1 is completely faithful to the original as far as its size, form, and function, but its blade is crafted from Carpenter® Technology’s Micro-Melt® Maxamet. This extraordinary material is a super-hard high-speed powdered tool steel enriched with cobalt, vanadium, and tungsten, as well as more than two percent carbon. Its sophisticated alloy mix gives it properties that transcend conventional tool steels and approach those of cemented carbides—the ultra-hard materials used to machine other steels.
