Hello, I'm Simon from Italy :)

I live in an area (Friuli Venezia Giulia) where it is very easy to find relics from the First and Second World War and today, during an outing with the metal detector, I found this knife of clear German origin. I don't think it is strictly connected to the militaria, but the place where it was found and the style in which it is made make me think it could date back to the 30s or 40s of the last century.

I attach some photos and details that could perhaps help you recognize it: the blade has both the word Solingen with a symbol of a man and a woman, and the word +GF+

On the handle you can see, very faded, a circular logo with an M and a W inside: if I did my research correctly, it is the historical logo of Mannessmann of Duisburg.

My main hypothesis is that it was a civilian knife, but that some German soldier had it with him and abandoned it where I found it. There were no major battles in the area, but a large passage of troops.

Many thanks to anyone who can give me some info :)

Well, interesting find anyway!
The trademark on the tang stamp is from Solingen manufacturer F.W. Jordan KG, registered in 1908. Showing „dutch children in clog shoes“. Official name: HOLLÄNDERKINDER. Company was still in business around 2000.
+GF+ seams advertisement/promotion for Georg Fischer Schaffhausen, could probably connected to the Mannesmann logo, but I am not sure. In my opinion it looks like a promotion knife.
