Alohallo ALL,
WOW beagleboy! A Combo-Edge Satin model?
Anyway, a brief explanation of the short handle concept. Here is the MPT and a FB I had designed for a friend, made by chaxknives called the PMK. Notice the blade lengths are about the same. Now, notice the difference in handle length.
Both knives are carried in a canted right hand angle. This is my favorite type of carry as I can easily move the sheath to my left side, enabling a right handed cross draw or reverse grip draw with my left hand.
The PMK handle will print when worn under a shirt and will poke you. Not so with the MPT. I can, and have worn the MPT under a "normal T-Shirt" with a pair of jeans with no one the wiser. Even when the MPT is worn outside of clothing, there is no long handle to hang up on things, or poking you when you bend over to tie your shoe, or if you are training and launch a knee strike. Hunters, outdoor enthusiasts, LEO, Mili, whatever...can all enjoy the good amount of blade length without having a "large FB feeling or look", that allows a great deal of motion when carried on the belt.
Sure, you do not have a long, full grip on the MPT as one would with a FB with the same sized blade. However, the trade off in terms of ease of carry and such is well worth it. Plus, the overmold rubber grip is hand filling and follows the Subcom Concept VERY well!
Mahalo much all, and God bless
