Puma 6394 Hunter's Companion from 1977.
The knife is basically new, but had a few light sharpening marks on the edge from a previous owner.
I restored it to a hairshaving semi-polish with the help of my Paper Wheels, which also helps to guard the edge from corrosion as it is still a carbon steel underneath that hard chrome top layer.

Puma 6317 Fahrtenmesser (Scout or travelling knife)
The knife is still in excellent condition, be it that there are a few shallow scratches on the blade from the 2 metal clamping springs inside the leather sheath, which itself is sadly missing it's belt loop.

I gave the knife a new semi-polished edge on the Paper Wheels as it was completely blunt when i received it.
Nice details are the silver monogram shield inlayed in the thick stag, and the message on the reverse side of the blade which reads: " Rostfrei - schneidet sehr gut", which translates to " Stainless - cuts very well".

Specs:

Overall length: 24,3 cm
Blade length: 13,5 cm
Blade thickness: 2,6 mm

Puma 3588 Waidblatt from 1982 (serial number: 27282) in mint condition & complete with unused leather sheath & papers in wooden box.

The Waidblatt could be used for chopping purposes (clearing shooting stands but also for hacking through for instance a pelvis), as well as for a mercy kill on larger game.

For this specific purpose it has a sharp & swedged point which at the same time is relatively wide, and also placed outside of the centerline of the blade.
Due to this design the point has a strong tendency to glance off of bones and into the soft tissues, much better than a symmetric hunting dagger blade with its centered and more narrow point.
The wide & thick area just behind the point (which also creates the good chopping potential) then makes a very large wound channel which leads to more & faster loss of blood and thus a quicker death of the animal.
A similar type of point design can be found on certain smaller Puma hunting knives, designed by the same man who also created the Waidblatt: German head forester Walter Frevert.

This drawing from an old German Puma catalogue shows the use of a Waidblatt for opening the pelvis (or Schloss in German):

Old Puma catalogues state about the Waidblatt that it's edge is strong enough to chop through iron nails (so not careful batonning) without any damage to the edge.
Now this feat is probably possible due to the obtuse factory edge bevels (have never tried it myself), but i know from experience that Pumaster steel can handle much thinner edge angles when used for the tasks it was originally designed for.

Bought it from the unsold stock of a long gone knife & fishing store, and the tool dates back to the '60's of the previous century.

In the green box was also the little catalogue explaining it's use.

Puma 3589 Jagdnicker from 1977.
The model was designed by German Oberforstmeister (Chief Forester) Walter Frevert in the '50's of the previous century, en to this day it's highly regarded by hunters because of it's efficient design handcrafted from high quality materials.

"Abnicken" is the German word for a certain method of providing the coup de grace, in this case to wounded deer.
To perform this act the hunter bends down the head of the deer with one hand, and then stabs the knife precisely between the skull and the first vertebra with his other hand.
This severs the spinal cord which ends the life of the deer quickly and as painless as possible. (also see the last picture which describes this method in German).
For this specific purpose the Jagdnicker has a very sharp & swedged point which at the same time is relatively wide, and also placed outside of the centerline of the blade.
Due to this design the point has a strong tendency to glance off of bones and into the soft tissues, much better than a symmetric hunting dagger blade.
The 3589 Jagdnicker is further used as a strong allround hunting knife that seems to appeal to both hunters & collectors alike.
