Hi,

This is my first visit to your forum. I must apologise for speaking in English. My German is not very good.

I spoke with a number of the members at the IWA show in Nurnberg regarding this forum and they said that English was spoken by many members.

Actually I was quite impressed with the prople I spoke with. Their knowledge of knives in general and Spyderco in particular was substantial. And their English was very good (better than mine).

I did cut a piece of rope for them with our Jester model to try to show the performance aspect of our knives.

I thought I would try to "break the ice" with this post. :)

You broke it. :super:

It's nice to see the "chief" of Spyderco participate in the german knife-forum.

I'm not sure if our English is good enough, but I'm sure we will do our very best. My last English lesson was years ago back in school...

I think there a quite a few Spydernuts in Europe. At least two countrys have their own penknife. I am currently enjoying the Ocelot from the Passaroun; it's a great opportunity to experience different Spyderco models. Thanks for this generosity!

Indeed, you broke it and i would be very happy, if we were allowed to welcome you as a constant member here! :)

(I'm sorry for my poor english, too)

welcome!

Nice to meet you at the forum.
I am a convinced user of spyderco knives since I bought my first Endura many years ago. This morning a Manix found the way to my trousers pocket (as some mornings before ;) ).
Without your innovations spyderco hole, pocket clip and sharpmaker who can imagine the knive world?

We are not worthy Sal! :steirer:

Welcome on board

I'm a regular visitor of the Spyderco Forum and BF aswell as an avid Spydie-Accumulator

A Jester is allways on my keychain and the latest flavour of the week for me is the Tasman Salt SE (Dr. Lecter's Choice)

People you might know from the Spyderco Forum who also participate here are:

Cheez
Peter1960
Robert Frühauf

So feel at home :)

Greetings to Kristi & Joyce

hi sal,

nice to meet a legend and a genius from the us-knife-scene here in the german forum.
welcome and hope you will enjoy it :super: :super:

Good things on ya Sal! Welcome to this forum and keep Spyderco innovating!

I didnt make it to the IWA this year but the Spyderco stand is always a high point of the show.

Nice to meet you Sal (are you realy the god of spyderco?).
now we get a german spyderco knive ! or 3 ?
one handle with stainless steel and german oak(backlock), blade like the manix.
one tactical, all black, with dark german oak and blade like the A.T.R. (compresion lock).
one cheap handle Zystel with linerlock, and an AUS 8 blade and a spacer of german oak.
thats all, think its enough.
have a fine time here Jan.

Hmm. Mainly you did a demonstration of your cutting skills :)
Was a pleasure to meet you and the all Spyderco people staff at the show. Next year i will carry a movie cam with me, so do not forget the Jester and the rope :steirer:

Sal,

I'm glad to finally forward here, I'm sure you'll have a great time here!
It was an honor meet you at the IWA, I'm looking forward to the next year.

If you have any trouble understandying *anything*, please feel free to drop me an email, and I'll translate it for you.

Greetings from Hamburg,

Keno :)

Sal, Mr. Glesser Sir, I'm delighted to see you in this forum too :), although I don't know how you handle all your efforts besides to manage your company

I for myself decided to start with collecting your knifes about a half year ago and the reason for it was, that especially you did pioneer work (Spydie-hole, clipit) in this market. This was and is "brain-engeneering" and therefore I like men like you.

Anyway, I guess you don't need alleluias, stay as you are :super:

The grandmaster himself :D

Because of reading your introduction I checked my pockets and guess what I found out?

I owned aboud 200 knives, and what did I found in my pockets?
3 Spydercos. No Microtech, no Benchmade only Spyderco and one lonely Schanz.
The only knive i carry really every day is my Police.
Others change ... this knive never!

I'm infected! :haemisch:

Hi Sal,

welcome to the Forum.
It was a pleasure and a honour to meet you at the IWA.

And be sure, meanwhile I own a Jester (full serrated) :D

Hi Sal,

wecome to the Forum and enjoy your stay!

It´s a great pleasure to have you here. Since many germans are infected with the Spyder-Virus it´s good to know now we have the Spyder-Doc right here to ease the fiber. :steirer:

By the way I´m glad to have bought the Ocelot. I enjoy especially it´s ergonomics from day to day more, thanks. It ranks quite high on my Best-EDC-ever list.

Best wishes,
JB

Thanx much for the warm welcome. Actually the honor is mine.

I am at your sevice.

Quite a diffference from my first stand at the IWA show in 1988. My first trip to Germany was also my first trip to Europe. My first trip to Japan was 2 months later. Quite an adventuroous year. I had hopes at the time of trying to make Spyderco a "Global" company, despite the fact that we were young and quite small.

My knives were refered to as, "new fashion knives" and the most commonly asked question was; "where's the stag? You can't sell a knife in Germany if there is no stag". I've often thought of a "German style" clipit with a "touch" of stag.

I cannot visit every day, as I am involved in several other forums and I do have a "day job". I will try to check in regularly. If I can assist in your understanding, it would be my pleasure.

Again, thanx much for the English.

sal

So good luck with your day job :lechz: I was very impressed by your products I saw at the IWA this year.
Im still a little sad, that you did not want to sell this flat ground chinook :( , especially after I was told, that it was still a prototype - and I`m still hoping that the bison proto I saw 2004 will make it into production...
greetings shark

Hi Sal,

I am glad to see you here.

I am, too, a regular reader/poster at the spyderco.com forum and a regular buyer/admirer of Spydercos.

Enjoy your stay!

Ookami

P.S. We also need the Spyderbug-smilie over here :D
