Guten morgan sgian, those are appropriate, but what about a German word? (But something that is also easy to pronounce for Americans.) Don't you think a German word would be more interesting? Or maybe it just seems that way to me because I am used to hearing English so German sounds more interesting.

Keep in mind that the blade length on some models is longer than a LaGriffe. It is an optical illusion that it is smaller in that regard. On my website I show the blade next to a ruler. I had to shorten the claw to make sure it was < 2 inches to be legal in California.

Exactly Thomas. Another learning: the meat was thicker than 2 inches, yet I hit the wood behind the meat each time. Lesson: Knives < 2 inches can cut more than 2 inches, because of compression.

Hi Gryphon, Ja, the quick turnaround time is because I correctly anticipated your 2-finger circumference size. However, people who have had very small fingers or very large fingers are having to wait a long time, because I did not create Autocad profiles for them initially. It might not be clear yet, but I make the HideAways to fit your personal 2-finger measurement.

The smallest HideAway size (measure around your first 2 fingers, where you wear rings) from someone (a woman) has been: 9.22 centimeters or 3.63 inches. The largest HideAway size from someone (a man) has been: 14.6 centimeters or 5.75 inches. That man is huge! 14 centimeters is the measurement around my _wrist_!

To date, outside the United States, I have mailed a HideAway to HerSir in Austria and to a member of the British Royal Police in Britain.

Several people from Korea, Malasia, and the Philipines have one on order. I only have email addresses to uniquely identify someone when they make a reservation. Maybe there are more countries represented; I can not specify country if the email address is a *.com, instead of the country name.

I understand there is interest in the knife from a historical perspective. The Indonesian warriors used to pick up claws that the Bengal Tigers would shed, and attach them to their hands using leather. It is interesting that 200 years ago, someone had the same idea, ja? I almost called the knife the "Bengal Claw" but I thought HideAway was more fitting.

However, pickup is receiving a specific type (titanium), and the titanium took a long time to receive! The next step is going to take until June.

About the name: I like "Achtung", sounds cool.
The problem with german names in Germany is that many people think, english names for products sound cooler, the same product with a german name wouldn´t be as impressive. Böker calls its plunge lock knifes Speedlock and Toplock for example.
But I would prefer a german name for the HideAway, would make it even more interesting IMHO.
Or what about "Kralle" (claw), "Tigerkralle", "Faust" (fist) etc.

This is the straight edge model. It is S30V stainless steel that is heat-treated by Paul Bos:

The originator who applied this concept first to knives is the knifemaker and police officer Mickey Yurco who was the very first person to finish a HideAway. If I have other makers duplicate this sheath, I am going to pay Mickey a small royalty in $ per sheath in order to respect his concept. I think he could obtain a certain type of patent, but it cost too much $4000. However, I want to respect ideas, because this encourages others to do the same, and also encourages invention because people want to get credit for what they originate.

My wrist cuff has some edges on it too.

Titanium is good because it does not rust.

I personally like the name "Splitter" (en: splinter) a lot (as sgian suggested), I also believe that it somewhat describes the shape of the knive and it might be easy to remember for our American fellows, too.

Some two months I was talking about your Hideaways with another member here but couldn't make my mind up if I want one of these or not. Tough choice!

My name favorite so far is Stachel (Sting in English) from BanzaiBany.

I like Zorn (from Rabe) and Finger Fighter (from El Dirko), but with the regular HideAways, a lot of people are buying them for utility purposes.
