pick-up, That knife ROCKS !!! Holy Toledo I love the curves and serrations and colors and the uniquely shaped hole in the blade.

I have to tell you though that everything that makes the HideAway good for the customer also makes it difficult for the maker at every step.
For me, the custom fit make the Autocad and G-code for almost each knife unique. At the Waterjet place the size differences makes them take more time to nest on the sheet of steel. My WaterJet Man made me learn MasterCAM so I could do the nesting myself. (which I am glad I did - that part is fun and I am better at it than he is) ANd guess what - I have the keys to the water jet place now!! He trusts me to not mess up the $100,000 machine and to pay him appropriately. This is really nice because then I can go there after work in the evenings. Though it is in kind of a creepy bad location, so I usually drag my boyfriend with me or my roommate. For the surface grining and vibratory tumbling (edge rounding) it doesn't make a big difference. I have a machine shop in New York do that part.
Then for edge grinding (you!), there is very little or nothing to hold on to. You will have new scars and finger pain after grinding HideAways. The makers swear at me
. Some build jigs to help. "[FrontSight], the next knife you design should have a BIG handle on it, OK?" Me: "Nope nope nope

Then with sheathing, sheaths need to be small and retain well _and_ still not go very far into the capsule hole. I have to constantly fight with you men whose tendancy is to want everything to be bigger

I have completed a design for an interchangeable SmallSheathSystem for the HideAway. I just today received first prototype of it and I think it is exactly what I had hoped for. That is a big chunk of work done.

Gryphon I am really glad you like the Pocket Protection sheaths. This was an creation of Mickey Yurco who also made your knife.
When I have other sheathmakers make the Pocket Protection sheaths, I pay Mickey Yurco a very small royalty as a way to respect the ownership of his creation. Like as if he has a patent on the device, even though he does not. At a cost of $3000 - $7000, patents are beyond the reach of most people.
Doing that (a royalty payment) also encourages good behaviours in terms of other people wanting to collaborate and contribute their ideas. It always helps if you know you are going to get rewarded for a significant amount of work.
Back to your comment Gryphon, everyone has had positive response to that sheath. It surprises me, because I thought they were perhaps too unique and different from what people were used to for people to like it.
OK that's all I had better get into work!
