Manchmal geht es schneller als man denkt. Ich habe ein Angebot von einem sehr netten Menschen bekommen, das ich nicht ablehnen konnte. 😊
Ein Bauernmesser von Pius Lang aus den 60er/70er Jahren in einem wundervollen Zustand. Ganz puristisch mit großer und kleiner Klinge.
Ich freu mich richtig.

Vielen Dank. Ja, ich hatte damit wirklich Glück. Die Griffschalen sind genau so, wie ich es mir erhofft habe. Wie bei meinem Jugendmesser. Wobei ich auch durch Fotos Deiner Messer immer mehr Gefallen an klassischen Messern mit glatten Bunthornschalen finde.
Mal schauen, ob ich mittelfristig auch ein schönes Böker Sport 182 aus den 60er/70ern in so einem gutem Zustand finde. Das wäre eine gute Ergänzung.

The link (or picture) above is of a PL knife I have just acquired which seems to be fairly typical of the brand, although I had not heard of it before. Also I have never before seen a knife with blades at each end but a bolster at only one end. From their website, I see that PL are now mainly a manufacturer of surgical instruments. I have two questions: 1. When did PL stop manufacturing slip joint pocketknives? Was it on the death of Walter Lang in about 1998 or before that? 2. PL is the first German cutler that I have come across that is not from Solingen. What other manufacturers are from south Germany?

Well, around the village of Tuttlingen there were more than a hundred of knifemakers more or less in the 19th century. They couldn‘t compete with Solingen and a lot of them changed into the still world renowed business of medical instruments.
If you search above in the Forum for TUTTLINGEN you‘ll definately find more information about. For example….
