Als ich vorhin den Clip abgeschraubt habe, ist mir ein Detail aufgefallen welches mich positiv überrascht hat: Die Clipschrauben sind mit Loctite fixiert. Das hätte ich bei dem Messer nicht unbedingt erwartet. 
@Chad: I removed the pocket clip and noticed that the clip screws are fixed with Lotite. For me this is a nice detail also in consideration of the price.

Yes, once you discover how to open the SF, it opens fast and sure, solid lockup all the time. Very useful in public or in crowds...hopefully your Emerson will be less scratched now that it has a "subordinate" to do the "dirty work"!

What a great team, IMHO! I am glad that the SF will be of service to you. I agree with you in that the SF makes for a great using knife, pretty much anywhere, and is an expendable one. I mean, let's face it, regardless of the steel, it cuts just as well as that Strider, yet is less costly to replace should it get lost or damaged. The price point is just a dream for the SF...if you shop around right!

MarioR stated that he has some problems to close the Subcom one-handed. For now he uses two hands for closing.
In the following, I will try to explain the one-handed method to him.
@MarioR: Nimm das Messer so in die Hand, dass es mit dem Griffrücken zu deinen Fingern zeigt. Mittel-, Ring- und kleiner Finger sollten dabei den Griff festhalten. Mit dem Daumen drückst du nun die Klingenverrigelung zur Seite. Sobald die Klinge entriegelt ist, drückst du mit dem Zeigefinger gegen den Klingenrücken und klappst die Klinge solange langsam zu, bis sich die Klingenwurzel unter die Verriegelung geschoben hat. Nun nimmst du den Daumen von der Verriegelung und damit aus dem Weg der Klinge, und legst ihn auf den Bereich um die Achsschraube. Nun kannst du die Klinge mit dem Zeigefinger weiter einklappen, auf dem letzten Stück nimmst du besser den Daumen.
Mit etwas Übung kannst du den Subcom Folder so ohne Probleme einhändig schließen. Führe den Vorgang zuerst langsam und vorsichtig aus, da sonst die Verletzungsgefahr steigt.

Was mir noch aufgefallen ist, die vordere Griffschale ist im Bereich der Fingermulde nach innen abgeschrägt. Hat das irgendeinen tieferen Sinn oder ist das nur ein "Designfehler" ?
Und die Sache mit dem Stud und dem Öffnen mit Handschuhen kann ich ja noch nachvollziehen. Aber schließen mit Handschuhen Ich hab ja schon mit meinem dicken Daumen leichte Probleme, das Teil zu schließen.

Das mit der abgeschrägten Griffschale hat einfach den Sinn, den Zwischenraum zwischen arretiertem Liner bei geöffneter Klinge und der Innenkante der Griffschale zu vergrößern, damit man den Liner (bei diesem sehr schmalen Messer) zum Schließen des Messers besser greifen kann.
Sagt mir zumindest die Logik und Haptik.
Ich habe übrigens im Thread mal wieder ein bißchen Plaudereien aufgeräumt, damit der Thread einigermaßen übersichtlich bleibt.
Ankündigungen von Kaufabsichten o.ä. sind zwar nett, fallen aber nicht unbedingt unter "Erfahrungen mit dem Subcom Folder".

Thanks for your support and great question! All I can honestly say is that since the framelock on the SF has no ridges to help disengage it, it will just take some practice. Very simple with or w/o gloves after some time getting used to it.
The taper you speak of was not part of my design.
That taper simply aids in keeping the Zytel scale attached to the steel liner that lies beneath it. Again, I apologize if I did not answer correctly...sharp eyes you got though...I was wondering when someone was going to ask about that taper!

I guess the "tapering" we are talking about is the thumb ramp in the Zytel scale which makes it easier for the thumb to disengage the lock (red marked area on picture below).

ich habe heute das zytel an der von beagleboy markierten stelle etwas runtergeschliffen. somit ist es wesentlich einfacher den lock zu öffnen und das messer zu schliessen. sollte nun auch mit handschuhen gut klappen. der lock kann trotzdem nicht versehentlich geöffnet werden.

I suppose this little detail which I thought merely helped the Zytel adhere to the ss liner was done by Magnum to ease closing!

and a 420 with a proper heatthread is very close to a aus8, if not superior.
but the new, elongated clip seems to be a great idea, although the short clip works as a kind of lockbar stabiliser, was it intended?
ach scheiss auf den stahl, es ist mir wurscht ob ich das messer einmal die woche oder einmal den monat nachschaerfen muss.
ein 420 mit ner guten wb ist einem aus 8 nahezu gleichwertig, wenn nicht sogar ueberlegen, falls die wb nicht sooo optimal war beim aus8.
