Hello,
i was speeking to jenni,, some time ago about what would be the typical german knife,
when i think of a german knife the first thing that springs to ming is one of those barvarian knives with the stag handle ,and a green leather , and maybe a acid etching of a deer on the blade,
however it seems that although these knives are popular with the old hunters , most of you knife folks have more american tastes, .
here such a wide range of knives is new to people , and so basicaly there is no one specific taste, yet,
if you folk will, what i woudl like to do is design a "german knife"
and if in then end we have a working design i will have one or two made and test it , and post the results here,
, if its good then we can make a whole heap of them and send them off to germany i guess,
anyway , here is the points i would like to cover,,
blade finish,
mark on the blade,, stamp , acid etch , laser, electro chemical.. ect ect ,
blade thickness,
blade length ,
handle length ,
tang type,, rat tail, slab stang, partial, partial pined,, ect ect,
handle materials,,
guard, no guard,
sheath material,
engraving,, no engraving,
other blade features,, grooves or fullers in the blade, serrations, thumb stop , ect ect ,
if anyone will put this also in german that would be good,
